Kenneth Copeland — Life And Prosperity Through Your Words

Joshua 1:8

KJV—This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Moffatt—This lawbook you shall never cease to have on your lips; you must pore over it day and night, that you may be mindful to carry out all that is written in it, for so shall you make your way prosperous, so shall you succeed.

NIV—Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Matthew 12:34-37

KJV—Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Amp—Out of the fullness—the overflow, the superabundance—of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man from his inner good treasure flings forth good things, and the evil man out of his inner evil storehouse flings forth evil things. But I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, non-working) word they speak. For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

Moffatt—The mouth utters what the heart is full of. The good man brings good out of his good store, and the evil man brings evil out of his store of evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to account for every careless word they utter; for by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.

Kenneth Copeland — Immersed in the Word

I’ll never forget when that transformation began in me. I had just begun to learn what the Word of God and faith can do. I was so hungry for it and so desperate to change my life that I completely immersed myself in it.

I kept teaching and preaching tapes going all the time. I’d get up in the morning and put in a tape while I was shaving. I’d carry the recorder to the table and listen while I ate breakfast. Then I’d haul it out to the car (that was back in the days of the big reel-to-reel recorders, so “haul” is a fairly accurate term) and listen to it while I drove to school. When I got back home at night, I listened to the Word again until I fell asleep.

I was 30 years old at that time and I’d pretty much thought the same way all my life—a way that had maneuvered me into more messes than I could find any natural way out of.

But after just a few days of constantly feeding on the Word, I began to notice a change.

My mind started working differently. I found myself comparing everything I heard, whether it came out of my mouth or someone else’s, with the Word of God.

When I’d hear something that was out of line with the Word, it would be glaringly apparent to me. Somebody would ask me how I was feeling. Instead of saying those old things I used to say—“Well, you know this old football injury has really been acting up lately. It’s giving me this shooting pain right up my leg”—I would just explode with the Word of God.

I’d say, “What difference does it make how I feel? I am not moved by what I feel. I am not moved by what I see. I am moved by what I believe and I believe the Word of God!” I just jumped on people like a chicken on a bug. (I didn’t know any better back then. Thank God, He’s mellowed me some over the years.)

What was happening? The anointing, the influence of God and His Word, was on my mind. It was teaching me things.

The Bible says if you’ll meditate on the Word day and night, it will talk to you when you wake up in the morning and visit with you all day long. That’s exactly what it began to do with me all those years ago.

I’d make choices with ease that other people struggled over. The Word made it clear for me which route I should take. I didn’t have to agonize or debate over what I should do; the Word working in me caused me to make the right choice.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20
KJV—I call heaven and earth to record this
day against you, that I have set before you
life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore
choose life, that both thou and thy seed may
live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy
God, and that thou mayest obey his voice,
and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he
is thy life, and the length of thy days: that
thou mayest dwell in the land which the
Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to
Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Amp—I call Heaven and earth to witness
this day against you, that I have set before
you life and death, the blessing and the
curse; therefore choose life, that you and
your descendants may live; To love the
Lord your God, to obey His voice, and to
cling to Him; for He is your life, and the
length of your days, that you may dwell in
the land which the Lord swore to give to
your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Moffatt—Here and now I call heaven and
earth to witness against you that I have put
life and death before you, the blessing and
the curse: choose life, then, that you and your
children may live, by loving the Eternal your
God, obeying his voice, and holding fast to
him, for that means life to you and length of
days, that you may live in the land which the
Eternal swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
your fathers, that he would give to them.

NIV—This day I call heaven and earth as
witnesses against you that I have set before
you life and death, blessings and curses. Now
choose life, so that you and your children
may live and that you may love the Lord
your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to
him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give
you many years in the land he swore to give
to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Joshua 1:7-8
KJV—Only be thou strong and very courageous,
that thou mayest observe to do according
to all the law, which Moses my
servant commanded thee: turn not from it
to the right hand or to the left, that thou
mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
This book of the law shall not depart out
of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein
day and night, that thou mayest observe to
do according to all that is written therein: for
then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success.

Amp—Only you be strong, and very courageous,
that you may do according to all
the law, which Moses My servant commanded
you. Turn not from it to the right
hand or to the left, that you may prosper
wherever you go.

This book of the law shall not depart out
of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it
day and night, that you may observe and
do according to all that is written in it; for
then you shall make your way prosperous,
and then you shall deal wisely and have
good success.

Moffatt—Only be strong and brave, mindful
to carry out all your orders from my
servant Moses, turning neither to the right
nor to the left, so that you may succeed
wherever you go.

This lawbook you shall never cease to
have on your lips; you must pore over it
day and night, that you may be mindful
to carry out all that is written in it, for so
shall you make your way prosperous, so
shall you succeed.

NIV—Be strong and very courageous. Be
careful to obey all the law my servant
Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the
right or to the left, that you may be successful
wherever you go.

Do not let this Book of the Law depart
from your mouth; meditate on it day and
night, so that you may be careful to do
everything written in it. Then you will be
prosperous and successful.
