Jesus has exchanged His weapons and armor with you and made you strong in the power of His might. He exchanged your weakness for His strength. Through a covenant relationship, you are now one with Him.

Jesus took your sin and gave you His robe of righteousness and right-standing with God. He has become so totally one with you that He has given you the authority to use His Name. “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils” (Mark 16:17). The devil has no right to be interfering in your affairs.

The new covenant does not depend on your ability to keep it. It depends on Jesus’ ability to keep it. Just like Abraham…just like David…you have a covenant with Almighty God. Just like Abraham, you can become fully persuaded that what God has promised you, He is able also to perform. Just like David, you can stand on that covenant and whip any uncircumcised circumstance that stands in your way—no matter how big it looks.

But your covenant is better. It doesn’t carry a curse anymore. Right now read Deuteronomy 28:16-68 in your Bible. That’s a list of the curses Christ has freed you from. They include every diabolical thing the devil could ever use to destroy you. Read them and rejoice! Those are the things God has healed you of and delivered you from. Receive your deliverance. Jesus paid the price for it. He bore the curse. He became the covenant sacrifice for you, proving once and for all just how intensely He desires to love and to bless you. Let Him do it now. You’ll love Him all the more in return!

In Abram’s day, the blood covenant signified an
absolute and unbreakable guarantee of a man’s
word. Nothing short of a blood agreement could
have convinced Abram of God’s desire to bless
him. By cutting the covenant with him, Almighty
God communicated His unfailing love and fidelity
on a level Abram could understand. God was establishing
a love relationship with him that could not
be broken without the penalty of death.

In order to see just how that covenant compares
to the one we have with the Father today,
we need to see what the covenant God cut with
Abram involved. That way we can begin to see
clearly why ours is even better.

In Abram’s society, when two families made
covenant together, they gave to one another
everything they had and all they represented.
They were no longer two, but one. Families
bound themselves together in blood agreements
in order to fill in the gaps created by each other’s
weaknesses and needs. Where the first tribe was
strong, the second was weak. Where the second
tribe was strong, the first was weak. Together,
they were both strong.

These two families drew up the terms of
their agreement and discussed them until each
article was fully and mutually agreeable. Then
they chose representatives and a place to cut
the covenant.

As they prepared for the solemn ceremony, at
least three large animals were sacrificed. Their
carcasses were split down the spine, and the
halves were placed on the ground opposite each
other. The result was a trail of blood between the
halves. This path was called “the way of blood.”

When the covenant ceremony began, the two
representatives exchanged their coats. This signified
the mutual exchange of authority. By this
act the covenant representatives were saying,
“All that I do, all that I have is now yours.”

Next the covenant representatives exchanged
their weapons. Through this they were saying,
“My strength is now your strength. Your enemies
are now my enemies.”

After the coats and weapons were exchanged,
then came the walk of blood. Twice the representatives
walked through “the way of blood,” stopping
in the center. There they pronounced their pledges
of loyalty, making promises to each other that
could never be broken. This pronouncement was
called “the blessing of the covenant.”

A curse was also pronounced. The curse was
the penalty for breaking the terms of the agreement.
They swore by their god, thereby making
him third party to the covenant.

Next came the cut of the covenant. The
representatives cut their hands and wrists and
bound their wrists together so that their blood
would intermingle.

After their loyalty was sworn to each other, the
families joined their names together as a permanent
sign that they had become one. Finally, they
ate a covenant meal of bread and wine together.
The bread signified their flesh, and the wine signified
their blood. The covenant meal represented
their willingness and commitment to lay down
their lives for each other.

Colossians 1:9-10
KJV—For this cause we also, since the day
we heard it, do not cease to pray for you,
and to desire that ye might be filled with
the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and
spiritual understanding; That ye might walk

acquaintance and recognition.

Moffatt—Hence, from the day we heard of
it, we have never ceased to pray for you,
asking God to fill you with the knowledge

so that you may lead a life that is worthy
of the Lord and give him entire satisfaction.
May you be fruitful and increase in the doing
of all good, as you thus know God!

NIV—For this reason, since the day we
heard about you, we have not stopped
praying for you and asking God to fill you
with the knowledge of his will through all
spiritual wisdom and understanding. And
we pray this in order that you may live a
life worthy of the Lord and may please him
in every way: bearing fruit in every good
work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Colossians 2:2-3
KJV—That their hearts might be comforted,
being knit together in love, and unto
all riches of the full assurance of understanding,
to the acknowledgement of the
mystery of God, and of the Father, and of
Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge.

Amp—[For my concern is] that their hearts
may be braced (comforted, cheered and
encouraged) as they are knit together in
love, that they may come to have all the
abounding wealth and blessings of assured
conviction of understanding, and that they
may become progressively more intimately
acquainted with, and may know more definitely
and accurately and thoroughly, that
mystic secret of God [which is] Christ, the
Anointed One.

In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom,
[of comprehensive insight into the
ways and purposes of God], and [all the
riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment
are stored up and lie hidden.

Moffatt—May their hearts be encouraged!
May they learn the meaning of love! May
they have all the wealth of conviction that
comes from insight! May they learn to know
that open secret of God, the Father of Christ,
in whom all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge lie hidden!

NIV—My purpose is that they may be
encouraged in heart and united in love, so
that they may have the full riches of complete
understanding, in order that they may
know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
in whom are hidden all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge.

But, you know what? You have an even better
reason to have a winning attitude than the general
did. God has guaranteed your success. Let me
show you what I mean. Imagine you’re about to
tackle a really tough job. Before you even get
started, God speaks to you right out loud and
says, “I just want you to know, I’m going to
personally see to it that this project you’re
working on succeeds.” Wouldn’t that give you a
tremendous feeling of confidence? Even if you ran
into some rough spots, you wouldn’t worry about
failing because you would have God’s word that
you were going to succeed. That would make it
easy to have a winning attitude, wouldn’t it?

Well, let me tell you something. You do have
God’s promise that you’ll succeed. He said in His
Word that you’re an “overcomer”! In Him, you can
overcome any problem the world throws your way.

Read 1 John 5:1-5:

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the
Christ is born of God: and every one that
loveth him that begat loveth him also
that is begotten of him. By this we know
that we love the children of God, when
we love God, and keep his commandments.
For this is the love of God, that
we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous. For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh
the world: and this is the victory that
overcometh the world, even our faith.
Who is he that overcometh the world,
but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son
of God?

God is being unusually explanatory here. He
doesn’t normally give such in-depth explanations
of things that are written in the Word of God. The
reason: He intends that we take what He says by
faith, go to Him, and allow the Holy Spirit to
reveal it to our hearts. That way the devil isn’t
tipped off to what it means.

Amp—Every man to whom God has given
riches and possessions and power to enjoy
them…and to rejoice in his toil, this is the gift
of God to him.

Moffatt—It is God’s own gift when a man is
made rich and wealthy and able to enjoy it
all…and to enjoy himself as he toils.

NIV—When God gives any man wealth
and possessions, and enables him to enjoy
them…and be happy in his work—this is a

Jeremiah 29:11
KJV—For I know the thoughts that I think
toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of
peace, and not of evil, to give you an
expected end.

Amp—For I know the thoughts and plans
that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts
and plans for welfare and peace, and not for
evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

Moffatt—For I keep in mind my purpose
for you, a purpose of weal, not of woe, to

Acts 14:17
KJV—He [God] left not himself without witness,
in that he did good, and gave us rain

Amp—He [God] did not neglect to leave
some witness of Himself, for He did you
good and kindnesses, and gave you rains
from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying

testimony: He has shown kindness by giving

You don’t have to talk God into the idea of
prospering you. Since the Garden of Eden, prosperity
and blessing have been His idea.
Many times in the Bible, God promises His people
that He will bless them. And that word “bless”
encompasses a wide range of good things that He
wants to do for us. In Vine’s Expository Dictionary of
Biblical Words, “bless” is defined as “to prosper, to make
happy, to bestow blessings on.” Webster’s Dictionary
defines “bless” as “to set apart or consecrate for
holy purposes, to make and pronounce holy, to
make happy, to make successful, to make prosperous
in temporal concerns or pertaining to this life,
to keep, to guard, to preserve.”
God has always prospered His people. He made
the earth for mankind—for His people. He delights
and takes great pleasure in prospering you.
As you study the Scriptures, you’ll see that it
is clearly God’s will for you to prosper spiritually,
mentally, physically and financially.
He wants you to experience His abundant
provision in every area of your life.
When you believe God is not only able, but
also willing to meet all your needs, your life
will overflow with the abundant blessings
He always intended for you to enjoy.

Deuteronomy 7:13

KJV—He will love thee, and bless thee, and
multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit
of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy
corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase
of thy kine, and the flocks of thy
sheep, in the land which he sware unto
thy fathers to give thee.

Amp—He will love you, bless you, and
multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of
your body and the fruit of your land, your
grain, your new wine, and your oil, the
increase of your cattle and the young of
your flock, in the land which He swore to
your fathers to give you.
